Kids Activities in Austin, TX

Zilker Park, one of our largest green spaces, is awesome for kids. Picture wide open spots perfect for kite flying (especially at the annual Kite Festival), a choo-choo train that any toddler will adore, and a playground that goes on and on forever.
Add to it tons of pools, both man-made and natural ones for cooling off in the summer. Don't forget our proximity to Schlitterbahn, which I raved about on the Outdoor Activities page.
One place I love to take my son during the summer is the new Butler Park which is just south of Lady Bird Lake off of Riverside. They have a fun water fountain feature that kids adore - and you get great views of the city too.
Butler Park's awesome water fountain.
We have a children's museum and several indoor playrooms, which are perfect spots to meet other parents. Don't you love how kids are the perfect foil for making new adult friends? Most of the people I've met since moving to town have been at a playground or other kid event.
Look out for our local parents magazines at grocery stores (like Whole Foods and Central Market) that list all the kid-friendly events each month, like storytimes and arts festivals. Even some concerts are great places for kids.
